HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting
This unit may be appropriate for educators and support staff working in creche’s, kindergartens, long day care, family day care, primary/secondary schools or adult education services.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.
The unit is delivered over a full day and includes both an observation assessment (during the day) and written assessment (may be completed during the session or submitted afterwards)
The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies and may contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).
Specific licensing requirements, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and/or relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority.

HLTAID003 - Provide first aid
Whilst the above 004 unit is specific to education and care, this unit includes all of the same essential first aid skills and knowledge as the 004 unit but it is applicable to workers in most industries (exclusive of specific high risk occupations which may require specific units). The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Specific licensing /regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

HLTAID001 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Often used as a CPR refresher, this unit focuses on CPR skills however our four hour program includes retraining for a range of first aid situations including choking, anaphylaxis and Asthma emergency situations. If your staff are required to undertake an annual “refresher”, this unit will likely be suitable.
