The SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail is utilised by many of our retail clients as a "skills builder" program to develop a broadly capable retail operations worker or frontline supervisor. Students must be able to demonstrate previous experience in a retail setting. Prior experience can include general customer service and point of sale (POS) operations, such as cash register and/or barcode scanner use/EFTPOS operations or similar.
In the event there is no public program commencing, this qualification can be delivered via Distance Education with support from a Facilitator. Some classroom based or work placement commitments may be required.

  • sales assistant
  • senior sales assistant
  • customer service assistant
  • point-of-sale operator

Course Information

This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship Pathway and is also appropriate for VET in Schools deliver.

Entry requirements for this qualification are that individuals will have previous retail experience in roles, such as:

  • applying point-of-sale handling procedures
  • interacting with customers
  • operating retail technology
  • performing stock control procedures
  • applying safe work practices
  • communicating in the workplace
  • minimising theft

After achieving this qualification candidates may undertake:

  • SIR40316 Certificate IV in Retail Management
  • SIR50116 Diploma of Retail Leadership

Available under a contract of training.

Qualification Requirements

The SIR30212 Certificate III in Retail comprises 13 units packaged as eight (8) core units PLUS five (5) elective units.
