Bev Munchenberg’s story

Bev Munchenberg co-owns a thriving consulting business, works with multiple RTOs and contributes to industry projects across South Australia. She credits much of her growth to the skills, confidence and industry knowledge she gained through further study at Time Education & Training.
What started as a TAE upgrade eventually led to a Double Diploma in Vocational Education and Training and Diploma of Training Design and Development. Looking back now, those decisions helped shape an entirely new chapter of her life because it became the foundation for a successful business, a stronger professional identity and opportunities she never expected.
Today, Bev is co-founder of LLN Consulting, a business that supports RTOs with language, literacy and numeracy services, contextualised learning resources and foundation skills support.
At the time of enrolling, she was working within an RTO and had become increasingly interested in foundation skills and contextualised learning. She could see how much more engaged students were when training was relevant to their industry and circumstances, and she wanted to learn how to do that better.
‘I was getting frustrated with how generalised some bridging units were. Students often struggled to see the connection between what they were learning and the industry they were working in.’
When an opportunity arose to study the Double Diploma, she grabbed it. ‘I’m a believer in taking opportunities when you can,’ Bev says.
‘I thought it would help me learn how to write better contextualised resources. That was really my focus at the time.’
What she didn’t realise was how much bigger the impact would be.
The choice to study with Time Education & Training
Bev had already completed her TAE upgrade through Time Education & Training in 2018, so she knew exactly where she wanted to study.
‘I had a great experience the first time around because it felt personalised. The trainer recognised the skills and experience I already had and focused on the areas where I genuinely needed support.’
Naturally, that personalised approach continued throughout the Double Diploma.
Another thing that stood out to Bev was how much effort the trainers put into understanding who was actually sitting in the room. For Bev, that made all the difference in her learning and the way she could apply it to her own workplace and career.
‘John Heidt knew who we were before we even walked into class. He knew our backgrounds, our industries and what strengths we brought. You felt respected as a person, not just another student. It never felt like there were just 18 people sitting in a classroom. Everyone was valued for the experience they brought.’
The more she learned, the more confident she became
Like many students, Bev enrolled hoping to gain technical knowledge. But, even better, the training helped her understand training design, mapping, compliance requirements and the broader vocational education and training sector. It also gave her practical skills that she still uses every day.
In addition, there was a big change in her confidence to not only deliver the work but communicate with people at all levels. ‘The qualification validated what I love about the industry. It helped me grow myself, challenge myself and connect with people in a completely different way.’
The more she learned, the more confident she became contributing to conversations with compliance teams, managers, CEOs, industry groups and government departments.
‘It’s not just about having a qualification. It’s about being able to talk the language and contribute to the conversation with confidence.’
The opportunity she never saw coming
In 2025, life threw Bev a curveball, as it often does. The RTO where she worked closed and staff, including Bev, were made redundant.
Together with her business partner Trish, Bev decided to back herself and launch LLN Consulting.
‘We thought we’d give it a couple of months and see how it went,’ she says.
Although the pair went into it with fairly modest expectations, what happened next surprised them both. Existing industry relationships opened doors, referrals started flowing and new opportunities kept appearing. Before long, the business had grown well beyond what was originally imagined.
Today, LLN Consulting supports multiple organisations through foundation skills tutoring, contextualised learning resources, LLN support and industry projects. Bev says the skills she gained through her studies at Time Education & Training play a huge role in almost everything they do. ‘It’s helped me in so many ways that I never could have foreseen.’
Learning that sticks
One of the things that Bev reflects on most was how often she still draws on the knowledge she gained through the qualification. Whether she’s helping an RTO map learning resources, developing contextualised training or contributing to industry projects, the lessons continue to show up in her day-to-day work.
But the value wasn’t just in completing the qualification. It was in developing a deeper understanding of vocational education and training and how the industry works as a whole.
‘It’s not something you finish and put on a shelf. I still draw on it all the time. It gave me a much stronger understanding of the standards, compliance requirements and why things are done the way they are. That’s been incredibly valuable.’
When asked how she feels about her future now compared to before completing the qualification, Bev doesn’t hesitate to share, ‘I feel like I’ve been let out of a cage.’
‘It’s a very pivotal qualification for me. It has played a huge role in helping me build the future I’m creating now.’
Bev’s advice for anyone considering studying with Time Education & Training is incredibly straightforward. ‘Do it,’ she states.
‘You’re not a student number at Time Education & Training. You’re treated as a person and they respect the knowledge and experience you already bring, whilst helping you build on it. They have a positive reputation that is well-earned.’
