What is a traineeship?
A traineeship combines on-the-job training with a nationally recognised qualification as part of a person’s employment, and can be done at various points of their career. They are not just for entry level roles.
A Contract of Training is the legal agreement between the trainee and their employer for the traineeship, and is lodged with and approved by the SA Government.
The nationally recognised qualification that is undertaken as part of a traineeship is done through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), such as Time Education & Training.
What are the benefits of a traineeship?
A traineeship can give new and existing staff the opportunity to have a deeper and more thorough learning and working experience. By combining employment, on-the-job training and the learning and education that comes with completing a qualification a trainee can more quickly develop into a well-rounded and skilled employee. Investing in employees in this way can assist with retention, productivity and overall culture of an organisation. Additionally, some traineeships attract financial incentives from government.

Some occupations connected with the following qualifications are currently on the Federal Government’s Australian Apprenticeships Priority List.
- BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management
- CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support
- CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
- CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
